Ron Ford’s stores in Barnsley are all within a mile and a quarter radius. The latest addition to his portfolio is a brand new purpose designed 1,800 square foot store on the site of an ex garage/MOT centre.

Strength of Brand

Ron says “Our stores are in close proximity but all far enough away from each other to avoid them competing for the same customers. What we have done is created really strong recognition of the Costcutter brand in the local area.

Development project management

Ron’s store and the story of how the design and opening of the store was professionally managed by Costcutter’s development team, with great success, is perhaps most of interest to other retailers. From getting the keys to the door to the store opening took just 19 days – an incredible achievement considering the level of building and fitting work that took place!

Ron says “Costcutter’s development team were fantastic. The expertise and input from the team was invaluable and they really delivered a first class job which far exceeded what I expected or what I could have achieved on my own. What I have in this store now is quality that is second to none, it’s as near the perfect store as you could get.


Profitability leads to reinvestment

Ron concludes “If you want your business to be as successful and profitable as is possible then it is definitely worth talking to the development team at Costcutter. Spending tens of thousands of pounds on developing a store is a big outlay BUT it is money that is well spent and each of my projects have been self financing, which speaks for itself about the success of store development.”
